Marzella Beatrice Thompson

Marzella Thompson, 61, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on June 26, 2026.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Marzella was born in Abernathy, Texas on October 18, 1964, to Esther Lee (Davis) and Jack Frankel Thompson. She graduated from Dalhart High School and completed some college coursework. Marzella retired from Pantex after 27 years of service, where she worked as an HR Specialist.

Above all, Marzella loved her family. Her daughters, son-in-law, and grandchildren were her world. She enjoyed spending her time gardening, singing, and cooking. She made the best meatloaf and pozole and had the most beautiful voice. Marzella was a woman of strong faith who loved the Lord. She faithfully served her church and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed traveling, vacations, making memories, and creating a lasting legacy for her family.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Queen Esther Davis; maternal grandfather, Bob Lee Davis; biological father, Jack Thompson; father, Hobert Lee Brown Sr.; and crazy cousin, Rodney Holmes.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeremy Thompson, and Miranda Sanchez and husband Enrique; granddaughters, Amaia Chiles, and Aspen Chiles; future additional grandchildren; mother, Esther Lee Brown; siblings, Michael Thompson, Hobert Brown Jr., Ronald Brown, and Andrea Brown Swanner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
