In Loving Memory of Matthew Stephen Strickland

Matthew Stephen Strickland, age 40, passed away on November 3, 2026.

A memorial gathering will be from 3:00--8:00 p.m., Monday, November 9, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

He was born in Clovis, New Mexico, and made Amarillo, Texas, his home. Although his roots began in New Mexico and Amarillo became home, Matthew held a special love for Florida, a place that captured his heart.

Matthew was a child of God, a devoted father, a hardworking electrician, and a man who loved his family with all his heart. His greatest pride and joy were his two children, his daughter Maddie, age 14, and his son Oakley, age 12. He loved his children with every breath in his body, and they were truly his whole world.

Matthew was a hardworking, stubborn, and adventurous man who wasn't afraid to tackle a challenge. He had a knack for fixing just about anything that needed fixing, and if something was broken, Matthew was the person you wanted around. His determination and hands-on nature were a big part of who he was.

Matthew was a quiet soul, often listening more than speaking. He may not have always been the loudest person in the room, but he was always taking everything in. His quiet nature was simply part of who he was, and those who knew him understood that there was so much more to him than words could ever express.

He loved cooking for his family, fishing, and making memories with the people closest to him. Some of his special memories included fishing with his Uncle Larry, sharing time together and enjoying the moments that mattered most. He was always willing to try something new and had recently picked up a love for playing cards and dancing. From a young age, motocross was more than just a hobby; it was a true passion that held a special place in his heart.

Three very special people who held important places in Matthew's heart were his beloved Grandma June and his best friend, Adam Chism. Matthew had recently experienced the heartbreak of losing Adam, someone whose friendship meant so much to him. Grandma June and Adam both left lasting marks on Matthew's life, and the love and memories they shared will never be forgotten. There is comfort in imagining Matthew reunited with these two special people in heaven.

Matthew is survived by his beloved children, Maddie, and Oakley Strickland; his mother, Kathy Strickland; his siblings, Michael, and Shawn; and his fiancée, Jacky. He also leaves behind extended family and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Matthew's faith, determination, adventurous spirit, and deep love for his family made him who he was. Though his time on earth was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on through everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Matthew will be deeply missed and forever loved. His memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew him, especially Maddie and Oakley, who will carry their daddy's love with them always.

"With God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26 (KJV)
