Mitchell Day Strickland, aka Ghost, aka Roo Roo, aka Uncle Dirtbag, 30 of Amarillo, left us far too soon on October 24th, 2026.
Family will receive friends from 6-7:30 pm, Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount. Memorial service will be at 5:00 pm. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Born on January 31, 1996, he came into this world full of laughter, fun, fearlessness, and mischief.
Mitchell had a rare gift of making everyone around him feel seen, heard, understood, and valued. He listened without judgement, loved without hesitation, and cared with his whole heart.
Mitchell's love of motorcycles was unmatched. His nickname, Uncle Dirtbag, actually came from being called Uncle Dirtbike by his nieces and nephews but then being misheard by a friend who thought they were saying Uncle Dirtbag. In true Mitchell fashion, he carried the name proudly.
He was a man who found peace in the shifting of gears, joy in riding with friends, adventure in the road in front of him and pure excitement in the rush of adrenaline. Where others heard noise, he found comfort. Where others saw just a motorcycle, he found freedom. As Mitchell said, "Just know that if I die on my bike, I died happy."
Mitchell leaves behind a family and friends who loved him beyond measure, and countless memories that will forever be cherished.
He is survived by his loving family including his parents David and Darla Strickland; his children, Reina, Remi and Kaden; his siblings Aaron Strickland, Madison Bush, her husband Brandon and their children Maison, Zoie, Harper, Oli and Oaklee; Libby Bowen and her husband, Collin; his grandmothers Mary Strickland and Lyla Day; his girlfriend Madi Raff-Hauser; his three-legged dog Smokey; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and precious friends he considered family.
He was preceded in death by Kenna Hess, the mother of his children, Remi and Kaden.
