Molly LaVerne White, 85, of Amarillo, Texas, entered the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 3, 2025. She was born on May 23, 1940, in Wellington, Texas, to Samuel and Lucy Scott.
Molly graduated from Samnorwood High School in 1958, where she was active in her church youth group and loved playing basketball. On June 10, 1960, she married the love of her life, Peter Nathan White. Together they shared 65 wonderful years filled with faith, laughter, hard work, and devotion to family.
Throughout her life, Molly worked in a variety of business and administrative roles. She cared for financial records at Askew & Brown, worked alongside her husband in their many ventures through Pete White & Associates, and later commuted daily to Dumas, Texas, where she managed bookkeeping for Bar W Ford—working for her son, Peter. At the age of 65, she earned her real estate license and continued serving others through Larry Brown Realtors. Her strong work ethic and integrity shone through in all she did.
Molly also faithfully served her community through Amarillo Christian School, where she was an active board member for many years. She served in countless capacities, but fundraising was truly her gift—she had a heart for helping others and a joyful way of rallying people together for a good cause.
She and Pete have been longtime members of Central Church of Christ in Amarillo, where they built lifelong friendships and grew in faith together. Molly was also actively involved in Bible Study Fellowship, which deepened her love for God’s Word and her desire to share it with others.
Above all, Molly loved her family deeply. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cheered her family on in every endeavor—especially sports! She was the loudest in the stands and the proudest in the crowd at every game or event she could attend. Over and over, friends have shared that Molly was “like a second mom”—always welcoming, encouraging, and pouring out love and wisdom with open arms.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Peter Nathan White; her children and their spouses, Susan and Kenny Davidson, Janet and Danny Niederhofer, Peter and Becca White, and Michelle and Craig Albracht; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren who adore her. She was one of nine children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Lucy Scott, and by her siblings, with only her sister, Gayle Mock, remaining.
On her final evening, she was surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who sang her favorite praise songs as she peacefully went home to be with the Lord. One nurse remarked, “She sure loved Jesus,” to which another replied, “Yes, she told everyone about Jesus.”
Her life was marked by unwavering faith, a deep love for Scripture, and the heart of a prayer warrior. She had a deep love for her family and a heart that pointed others to Christ. She will be dearly missed, yet we rejoice knowing she is with her Savior.
“The joy of the Lord is my strength.” – Nehemiah 8:10
