Bovina

Nacy Karen Dunn, 73, of Bovina, Texas, passed away on May 1, 2026.

Nancy was born July 10, 1952, in Chatsworth, Georgia, to Leonard and Mae Dunn. She attended school in Murray County Georgia and graduated from Murray County High School in 1970.

Nancy was known for her strong work ethic and her love of horses and the plains of Texas. When Nancy was 11 years old she visited her uncle who had a farm near Friona, Texas. Wanting to give Nancy a real Texas experience during her visit, her uncle, Jack Patterson, arranged for her to go on a small cattle drive with some of his neighbors. After that experience Nancy was determined to move the Texas when she grew up.

In September 1976, Nancy left her home in Georgia and moved to Bovina, Texas, where she worked at Sherley Anderson Grain Company with Earl Whitten who considered her his “right hand gal”. Nancy retired in 2019, having worked for the Andersons for 43 years.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother and father and her brother, Calvin Dunn.

She is survived by her sister, Brenda Ross, and a large extended family in North Georgia.

A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2026 at 4:00 PM at Fairy Valley Cemetery in Murray County Georgia. Visitation will be at Peeples Funeral Home in Chatsworth prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:30 PM.

Special thanks to Nancy’s dear, lifelong friend, Lou Ann Bomhardt; her friend and co-worker, Erma Hernandez; and her beloved cousin, Sandy Patterson for their love and support during her long illness.
