Nancy Katherine Lindegren, 81, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, Texas.
Nancy was born April 8, 1944, in Amarillo, Texas to C.M. and Alice Purcell. She graduated from Canyon High School where she played basketball and volleyball. She then graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Lubbock, worked at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, and then served as a nurse in the U.S. Air Force.
Nancy possessed a spirit of adventure. She chose Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho because the USAF wouldn’t let her be stationed in Alaska. While in Idaho, she met her husband Lewis, who was stationed there as well. Her adventures would also take her to Thailand, Canada, Sweden, and Ireland.
Whether exploring the world or enjoying the outdoors closer to home, she lived with an appreciation for God’s creation. Nancy found great joy in nature and had many fond memories of summers spent at a family cabin in Red River, New Mexico, and at Ceta Canyon Methodist Campground. She expressed her love of the natural world as an artist, painting many subjects with a special fondness for landscapes, and as a gardener. Nancy always maintained a family garden as well as volunteered time with community gardens as a certified Master Gardener. She found peace outdoors and took pride in nurturing growth wherever she planted herself.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, C.M. and Alice Purcell; her brother, Richard Purcell; her husband, Lewis Lindegren; her brother-in-law, H.N. Ewing.
She is survived by her sons Jason Lindegren and his wife Stephanie of Amarillo, and John Lindegren and his wife Sarah of Ruckersville, Virginia; grandchildren Christopher Lindegren, Austin Lindegren, Sean Lindegren, Nathan Lindegren, Robert Lindegren, Samuel Lindegren, Josh Risner, Berkley Risner, and Jon Risner; her sister Ruth Ewing of Amarillo; and sister-in-law Carol Sue Purcell of Plainview.
A woman of Christian faith, Nancy is now at rest and reunited with her Lord and her husband, Lewis. Her life leaves a legacy of service, faithfulness, and quiet strength that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
