Nichole Marie Schupman-Cox was born March 10, 1981, in Amarillo, Texas. She passed from this life into the arms of our savior Christ Jesus on May 20, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. Celebration of her life will be Tuesday May 26, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Chapel in Amarillo, Texas at 10:00 AM. The services will be officiated by Greg Corona, pastor of Hillside Christian Church.
Nikki’s life reflected perseverance, resilience, and the ability to overcome adversity. From an early age, she faced medical challenges and a diagnosis of Angelman’s Syndrome, yet her smile, belly laugh, and joyful spirit never faded. Though she could not speak, she taught others about hope, physical endurance, patience, and unconditional love. Throughout her life, she met countless setbacks and obstacles with remarkable strength, inspiring everyone who supported and knew her. She enjoyed outdoor activities including boat, golf cart, and roller coaster rides, and swimming in the pool or the lake. One of her greatest joys in life was her weekly visits from Uncle Butch and Aunt Carol to bring her Taco Villa. Nikki needed her personal space from time to time but she loved her family and enjoyed being part of every celebration. She was usually one of the family members who did something totally inappropriate such as turning off the lights in the restaurant or blowing a raspberry during prayer. Even though small in stature, given the opportunity, she could completely rearrange the furniture in her room including putting her chest of drawers on top of her bed. True comfort to her was to hold your hand or sit in your lap and rock.
Nikki was a true overcomer, and to know her was to love and respect her. We look forward to seeing her again in perfection. Out little Angel.
Nikki was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ramona Decker and Doyle (Margie) Cox, and Ireland Sanders and cousin, Nathan Sanders.
She is survived by her mom and dad, Linda and Dewayne Cox; brothers Ty (Hope) Cox, and Ian (Catherine) Cox; and numerous nieces, nephews and very close friends including her group home sisters.
The family would like to share their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff of BSA SICU and Dr. Thien Vo for the love and compassion shown to her over the last few weeks. A special heartfelt thank you from the family to Dr. Walter Bridges for his wisdom, compassionate personal care and friendship for Nikki for the last 20+ years. You are truly one of a kind.
The family requests that those in attendance of Nikki’s Celebration of Life please dress bright and colorful because Nikki was a Ray of Sunshine. In lieu of flowers that memorial gifts be given in Nikkis’s name to The Turn Center of Amarillo and/ or the Angelman’s Syndrome Foundation.
After the Celebration of Life the family will meet family and friends at 4025 Oakhurst.
