Odessa Jeanette (Wegner) Conner, 91, of Springfield, MO died June 10th, 2024.

Visitation will be from 4-5:00 PM, Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount. Services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 17th, 2024, at Arden Road Baptist Church, 6701 Arden Rd., Amarillo, TX. The burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, TX.

Mrs. Conner was born July 7, 1932, in the family’s Farm home between Twitty and Kelton, in Wheeler County, TX; the daughter of Henry August Wegner and Mary Pearl (Hickman) Wegner.  Mrs. Conner graduated from Kelton high school in 1951. Upon graduation she moved to Amarillo, Texas, where she attended Draughon’s Business College before commencing work for Santa Fe Railway on December 9th, 1951. Mrs. Conner resigned her position with Santa Fe in 1955, to become a full-time housewife and homemaker. However, she did later work for 4 years for Maynard Sash & Door in Amarillo, TX, and for 2 years for Topeka Medical Center in Topeka, KS. 

In addition to living in Wheeler County, TX, Mrs. Conner lived in Porterville, CA, Amarillo, TX, San Diego, CA, Albuquerque, NM, Glenwood, IL, Topeka, KS, and Springfield, MO. 

Mrs. Conner accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized in the Twitty Baptist Church on August 26, 1945. At the time of her death, Jeanette was a member of Arden Road Baptist Church in Amarillo, TX. 

Mrs. Conner married John Wray Conner on May 21, 1954, in her family’s farm home near Twitty/Kelton, with their first home together being in Amarillo, TX. At the time of her death, they had been married 70 years.

Preceding Mrs. Conner in death were her two daughters, Linda Kay (Conner) (Landry) (Burchett) Blevins, on December 14th, 2016, in Branson, MO, and Brenda Sue (Conner) Phillabaum on July 26th, 2017, in Russel, KY; her father on July 5, 1955, in Shamrock, TX; her mother on January 31, 1974, in Redding, CA; her granddaughter Tara Jeanette (Landry) Bennett on May 7, 2011 in Independence, MO; and her two brothers, Jimmy Ray Wegner on December 11, 2003 in Redding, CA and Farrell Gene Wegner on December 11, 2003 near Dallas, TX. 

Survivors include her husband, John Wray Conner, of the home in Springfield, MO; her four grandchildren, Michael Keith Phillabaum Jr. of Grayson, KY, Eli Earle Landry of Shawnee, OK, Kelsey Wray Burchett of Kansas City, KS, and Zacharias Conner Landry of Springfield, MO; five great-grandsons, Dane Cevin Clayton of Topeka, KS, Michael “Trey” Phillabaum 3rd and James Asher Phillabaum, both of Grayson, KY, Conner Fitzwilliam Landry and Caden Cooper Landry, both of Shawnee, OK; her sister, Marilyn Ruth (Wegner) Artran and her husband, Evan Artran, of Garland, TX; her cousin Ronnie Duane Conner of Calgary, Canada; her cousin Frank Weldon Conner and his wife JudyMay (Snow) Conner of Katy, TX.
