Orvill George Harney

Orvill George Harney, 80, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on May 21, 2025.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 6-7 at Boxwell Brothers. Services will be at 10 am on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at South Georgia Baptist Church with Karen Wells officiating. Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Orvill was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on February 1, 1945 to Barbara Sue (Horton) and Roy Guy Harney. He met Barbara Beckum, the love of his life, in the summer of 1987, in the singles class at South Georgia Baptist, and married her 4 months later on December 26, 1987. Orvill and Barbara were happily married for almost 36 years prior to her passing in November 2023.

Orvill was active in the community of The Continental where he lived, starting and leading a weekly Bible Study group called Two Or More. He was known to brag endlessly on his great grandchildren and was often found cheering them on at their games.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, son, Mike Harney, parents Roy and Sue Harney and a brother, Roy Guy Harney.

He is survived by his daughters Stacey Simpson, Sharrise Ball and husband Rob, Gina Coleman and husband Taylor, son Todd Beckum and wife Wendi; grandsons Zakary Stout, Jayden Peek and wife Maddy and Josh Ball; great-grandchildren Treyson, Kambree and Kolter; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.
