Orvilla Ann Allred, 74, of Wildorado, Texas, passed away on September 16, 2026.
Orvilla was born on January 26, 1952, in Amarillo, Texas, to Orville and Dorothy Groneman. After losing her father when she was only nine years old, she was raised by her devoted mother. Orvilla, her brother Kiven, and their cousins spent much of their childhood together, creating memories and relationships that remained important throughout her life.
Growing up, Orvilla took ballet lessons and played the flute. She loved animals, especially her dachshund, Grettle, whom she loved to dress up. Orvilla and Melanie were inseparable and spent most of their free time together from childhood until Melanie’s passing.
Orvilla graduated from Vega High School in 1971. In 1975, Orvilla married Randy Allred, her soulmate. Orvilla brought her favorite son, Doug, into the marriage, while Randy brought his daughters, Brandy and Hope. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Cari.
She began her working life at Palo Duro Elevator, where she enjoyed working with local farmers. She later began working at the bank in Vega, where she remained until her retirement.
In 2001 while still working at the bank, Orvilla and Randy, along with their daughter Cari, opened Randy’s of Wildorado restaurant. At one time or another, nearly every family member helped at the restaurant. Orvilla especially loved waiting tables because serving her community and making people feel welcome brought her great happiness.
Orvilla had a strong love for her community. She served on the Wildorado School Board for more than 20 years and was involved with several other community organizations, including the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce, where she continued serving until her passing.
Orvilla continued to be strong in her faith throughout her life. She went on two mission trips to Europe and was active in the local Walk to Emmaus and Women of Faith.
Orvilla and Randy served as class parents during the 1980s, and their home became the place where the kids loved to gather. Decades later, their home was still a favorite gathering place for their grandchildren and their grandchildren’s friends.
Above all else, Orvilla loved her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Her devotion to the people she loved and the community she served will be remembered by everyone whose life she touched.
Orvilla is preceded in death by Orville Groneman, Buck Allred, Dorothy Fields, Kiven and Julie Groneman. She was survived by her loving husband of more than 50 years, Randy Allred; her mother-in-law Juanita Allred; her children, Doug Cavin, Brandie and Kyle Hefner, Hope and Brannon Stephens, and Cari and Gary Gilbert; her niece and nephew Ian Groneman and Tara Groneman-Barrett; her grandchildren, Belicia and Elizabeth Syventri, Brennan Harvey, and Brighton Babiash, Phillip and Katie Hefner, Kolbie and Kyle Neill, Jesse and Kelsey Slaughter, Kassie and Micah Heagen, Alex and Sheldon Lanier, Brandon Stephens; and her nine great-grandchildren, Decklyn, Kylie, Karson, Nora, Gavin, Oakley, Kelton, Paisley, and Gatlin.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026 at Christ Community Church in Vega, TX. A graveside service will follow at Palo Duro Cemetery in Wildorado, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
