They moved to Memphis, Texas when Peggy was a year old. She attended school in Memphis, Texas through 12 years. Graduated with honors, was nominated Homecoming queen and Miss Hall County. She was very popular and active in cheerleading as well as many other activities. Everyone loved her sweetness and beautiful smile. After graduation she attended West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas.
Later she married her high school sweetheart, Jack Stanley Moreman, when he came home from the Army while serving in Korea for two years. They moved to Hedley to farm and raise cattle. They had a daughter named Suzan Kay Moreman on October 1, 1949. When Suzan was a year old, they moved to a farm in Brice, Texas where they raised cattle, horses, cotton and alfalfa. In 1965 they moved to Memphis, Texas, where Peggy Sue worked as a teller for West Texas Utilities for several years. She then trained to become a teller at Vernon Savings and loans where she worked for several years and became head manager, after a few years they changed to a new company.
Peggy loved to raise beautiful roses and was very artistically talented. She loved to decorate and was a great cook. She had a fantastic group of lady friends who got together every week and played cards. They would also go out on outings to eat at a good restaurant. She was on the Board of the United Methodist Church and was very active in church. She loved her Lord!
She was the perfect example for me as her daughter, and so was dad.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ima and Ira Lawrence, a brother, Douglas Lawrence. Three husbands: Jack Stanley Moreman, 27 years, Morris Odom and Bill Henry. A nephew, Jon David Lawrence.
At the age of 87 Peggy moved to Amarillo, Texas to be taken care of by her daughter Suzan Kay Stephan. She lived two years in assisted living and the rest with her daughter.
