Randal M. Bigelow

Randy Bigelow, 59, of Amarillo, TX died Thursday, April 11, 2024.  He was born on January 25, 1965, in Austin, TX.   He moved to Canyon, TX in 1975 to attend elementary school in the fourth grade.  He was a 1983 graduate of Canyon High School. He graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from West Texas A&M.

Randy had an abundance of fond memories during his early working career as a radio disc jockey that began in the 1980’s.  He worked for several of the Amarillo radio stations as Randy Hart. Many fun memories involved fellow DJ, Bart Allison where they broadcast from their famous “Z-93 Penthouse”.   He also had numerous great times with his morning partner, John Moesch where they teamed up as The Young Guns on KISS FM.

After radio, he had a long career in marketing and sales with Tiernan and Boyd’s Equipment.  He was great at selling anything related to BBQ.  He enjoyed meeting so many individuals who became career long customers and friends.  He was always a “doer” and always made sure things got done, typically utilizing a very efficient “to do” list.

He married his high school sweetheart Debbie, on November 7, 1986. They were married for 37 years.  They had one child, Matthew.  Randy was very proud of him and his ability to become both a Pharmacist and a Medical Doctor.  After his diagnosis, Matthew used his professional training to help Randy navigate his health journey. Randy was very happy to have Matthew’s compassion and expertise that served him well until his last breath. He was thrilled to expand his family and gain a daughter when Matthew married his wife, Erin in 2018.

Survivors include his wife Debbie, son Matthew and wife Erin, of Amarillo, TX, as well as Randy’s parents, Neal and Sherry Bigelow, of Kerrville, TX.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.  Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon, TX.
