Randy Dean Anderson

Randy Dean Anderson December 31, 1948 – April 15, 2023

Graveside services will be at 9:30 AM, Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Randy Dean Anderson was born December 31, 1948 in Wheeler, Texas to Raymond and Evaleen Anderson. He was born into a full house with siblings Richard Anderson, Rodger Anderson, and Raeleen (Anderson) Lodholm. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1967 before joining the Army on June 8, 1967. He married his sweetheart Susan (Skidmore) Anderson on October 17, 1967 and continued his military service until July 19, 1976. During his time in the Army, Randy and Susan traveled many places and made great friends along the way. They even lived in Germany for several years. He received his Bachelor’s of Business with a major in management distinction May 2002.

Eventually, they settled down in Amarillo and had two children: Angela Springer (Angie Anderson) married to Jolby Springer (passed July 18, 2022) of Amarillo, and Tony Anderson married to Kandi Anderson of New Braunfels. They had six grandchildren, but Randy always thought of their spouses as his grandchildren too. His grandchildren are: Dustyn Springer and wife Emily, Makaela Springer, Rylei Springer, Jaycee (Anderson) Porter and husband Brandan Porter, Sawyer Anderson, and Sara Anderson. Randy also has two great-grandchildren, Addison Porter and Beckett Porter, and Baby Porter is expected September 2023. He retired in 2009.

He loved fishing, hunting, and reading books. He would take his kids and grandkids to the mountains or camping at multiple lakes. All of his kids and grandkids have a love for the outdoors just as he did (well, except one—Jaycee— haha). He was a great dad, grandpa, and proud combat Veteran. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1475 in Amarillo.

Randy is preceeded in death by his parents, brother Rodger Anderson, son-in-law Jolby Lynn Springer, and granddaughter Kirsten Grace Springer. He is survived by his wife Susan Anderson; daughter Angie Springer and children; son Tony Anderson and wife Kandi Anderson and children; and other extended family.

He will be greatly missed and we will carry forward many treasured memories. In lieu of flowers, the Anderson and Springer family asks that you consider donating to your local Veterans Affairs branch or affiliated entities that care for Veterans and their families.
