Rhonda Louise Lynn

January 3, 1946 — July 22, 2024

On Monday, July 22nd, Rhonda Louise Lynn passed from this earth and into the loving arms of Jesus. She was 78 years old.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 9th, 2024 at 11:00 am, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Rhonda was born January 3, 1946 in Palestine TX to John and Imogene (Allen) Corpier. The oldest of 4, her siblings include Paula, Marilyn, and Michael Corpier. She graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1964 with high honors including National Honors Society, Miss Flame, Miss Future Secretary and also a member of Future Secretaries of America. In her early twenties, she modeled new seasonal apparel for Hemphill Wells in Dallas TX. Rhonda was an exceptional executive secretary to the Vice President of Research and Development of Arbrook, Inc (later became Johnson and Johnson), and for the general manager at Coca-Cola Bottling Co, Lubbock TX. But the most fun and exciting jobs she ever had, and always talked about even into her older years was being on staff at Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington the first year the park opened, July 1963! Descriptions of Rhonda’s exceptional work ethic and demeanor included “Poise,” “outstanding attitude,” “kind,” “goes above and beyond.”

On May 28, 1965 Rhonda married Haskell (Hack) Ellison Lynn at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. They were happily married 22 years before Hack’s untimely passing in May, 1987. Hack and Rhonda had 2 children, Stephen Mark Lynn (born April 1968) and Karen Rhone’ Lynn Talley (born November 1973). The Lynn’s had several moves due to job transfers, or just simply upgrading a house, but Rhonda made every house a home. She was the heartbeat of the family. Whether there was little or much, she made sure each of her family members felt special, seen and heard.

In the late 70’s, Rhonda gave her life to Jesus Christ and EVERYTHING CHANGED! She knew what He saved her from and totally reformed her life. Rhonda loved her Jesus with a passionate, unwavering fervor. From that point on, all she did was for God’s glory and His alone. The one thing she wanted more than anything was for her family to come to know the Lord and live their lives “all out” for Him. She taught her children the Word, loved them like Jesus loves, and then went out to anyone, anywhere (usually Walmart or while shopping at Dillards, lol!) who would listen and share Jesus with them. She was a prayer warrior and fought fiercely for those she loved, for she was unashamed of the Gospel and she definitely overcame by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of her testimony. She shined through her service. While she attended Trinity Fellowship Church in Amarillo TX, she served faithfully at Bethesda Outreach Center, in Amarillo TX as a lay counselor and overseer of the clothing room. Her favorite time of year was the citywide outreaches right before the beginning of the school year.

Rhonda was also involved with the Hospital Ministry at Trinity Fellowship. The Lord used her mightily through this ministry and she witnessed miracles and healing in ways she never had before.

One of Rhonda’s most treasured ministries was her card ministry. The Lord would lay someone on her heart, she would send them a word of encouragement and strength, or a simple birthday card. But she knew those cards would plant seeds of hope. In her later years, she knew those cards could go where she could not. But she used that ministry to be the hands, the feet, the words of Christ for those who needed it.

In 1994, Rhonda re-entered the workforce at Barnes Jewelry in Amarillo as office manager. She absolutely loved her Barnes family! She retired in 2011.

Rhonda’s favorite verse was Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Rhonda happily spent her last years at SkyWest Assisted Living by Shaw in Canyon TX. This facility embraced and loved on her well including praying and reading the Psalms over her as she passed into eternity. We will be forever grateful for the beauty and grace in which they cared for her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Imogene Corpier, and her husband Hack Lynn.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Lynn and wife Melanie of Rowlett, TX, and daughter, Karen Talley and husband Jeremy of Canyon, TX. She is also survived by her 7 treasured grandchildren, Molly Ingersoll and husband, Tony of Amarillo, TX, Isaac Talley and wife Jacy, Gideon Talley, Ellie Talley and Ruby Talley, all of Canyon, TX. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren, Kenzie Ingersoll and Caleb Ingersoll and wife Skylar, all of Amarillo, TX. Also, her sister Paula Turner and husband, Bill of Richardson, TX, sister Marilyn Holcomb of Arlington and brother Michael Corpier. Rhonda loved her nephews, Brian Thomas of Salt Lake City Utah, and Jason Holcomb of Joplin, MO.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rhonda’s memory may be made to Christian Relief Fund or the High Plains Food Bank.
