Rhonda Kay Stadler

Rhonda Kay Stadler, born October 31, 1957, ran into the arms of Jesus on August 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of a family who will miss her more than words can express. 

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 17, 2026, at Faith Southwest Methodist Church, 4415 Wesley Rd., with Rev. Dr. Mark Welshimer officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. 

Rhonda shared 52 years of marriage with the love of her life, David Stadler. They were married on July 15, 1974, and together built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, love, and service to others. 

Rhonda was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Above all, she loved the Lord. She raised her children to know Him, love Him, and serve Him, and she lived out that faith throughout her life. One particularly precious moment for Rhonda and her family was when her son-in-law, Billy, had the honor of baptizing her - a beautiful reflection of the faith that remained at the center of her life. 

Rhonda was a founding member of Faith Southwest Methodist Church, where she faithfully served for many years. She loved singing in the church choir and devoted countless hours to the Women of Faith ministry, serving in many roles, including as president. She continued serving as president until ALS made it impossible for her to continue. Her church was far more than a place she attended; it was home. Through Faith Southwest, Rhonda and David were blessed with dear friends who became family, and those friendships were deeply treasured. 

Rhonda had a servant's heart, and caring for others came naturally to her. After her children were in school, she began working outside the home and spent many years at United Supermarkets, serving as a cashier, price coordinator, and HBA manager. But the work closest to her heart was always caring for children. She spent time at Sprouts Daycare, where she got to do one of the things she loved most - holding and loving on sweet babies. Later, she opened her home to care for Charlie and Holland Poole. They were never "just" children she cared for; she loved them as her own and considered them two extra grandchildren. 

Rhonda also generously gave her time to Coffee Memorial Blood Center. She volunteered at large blood drives, helped prepare donor incentives to be sent to blood drives, and lovingly wrote cards to donors. It was simply who Rhonda was - if there was a way she could help someone or make them feel special, she did. 

And if Rhonda was coming to a gathering, there was a very good chance she was bringing something delicious. She was known for her wonderful cakes and desserts, and her family will confidently tell you that no one made a Texas Sheet Cake quite like Rhonda. Her recipes fed people, but the love she put into them is what made them memorable. 

Rhonda enjoyed the simple things in life, too. She loved taking walks and continued them for as long as she was able, until ALS took that ability from her. She adored her animals and loved Macie Grace, Cassie, Bailey, and Trixie like children. And then there was Sheldon - quite simply, the best dog ever. Her animals were part of her family, and she made sure they knew just how loved they were. 

ALS may have gradually taken away many of the things Rhonda loved to do, but it could never take away the things that defined her: her faith, her love for her family, her kindness, her servant's heart, or the impact she made on the people around her. 

Rhonda is survived by her loving husband, David Stadler; her children, Kristy Stadler of Dallas, Jennifer and Billy Baker of Amarillo, and Michael and Brandi Stadler of Brownfield; and her eight grandchildren and their spouses: Taylor Maiwald; Braden and Emily Maiwald; Megan and Taylor Collins; Alexis and Aaron Finch; Hannah Baker; Sophie Baker; Charli Gutierrez; and Camsten Gutierrez. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Alsdurf; her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Teresa Alsdurf; along with many extended family members and dear friends whom she loved as family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norma and Ben Bessire; her brother, Earl Alsdurf; and her infant brother, Larry Alsdurf. 

Rhonda's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the many people who cared for her throughout her journey with ALS. We are especially thankful for the physicians, nurses, therapists, and staff at UT Southwestern; the compassionate team at Kinder Hearts Home Hospice, who cared so lovingly for Rhonda and her family; Dr. Crystal Stewart and her wonderful staff; and the caring staff at Vitality Home Health. Your kindness, patience, compassion, and care during an incredibly difficult time will never be forgotten. 

Rhonda's life was one of faith and service, but perhaps her greatest legacy is found in the people she loved. She loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her church family, her friends, the children she cared for, and even her four-legged babies with her whole heart. 

She taught her family to love the Lord not only with her words, but by the way she lived. 

And while those who love her would have given anything for more time, there is comfort in knowing that on August 7, Rhonda was finally free from ALS. 

She could walk again. 

She could sing again. 

And she ran straight into the arms of Jesus.
