Robert Orlando Arellano, 52, of Amarillo, Texas gained his wings on August 8, 2026.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Living Water Family Church, 2500 S Eastern St., Amarillo, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Robert was born in Pico Rivera, Californian to Alcario Arellano and Sandra Cherry. Roberts early years were filled with love from his Grandma Maggie Mae and several aunts and uncles in Tucumcari, NM before going to live in Amarillo with his father Alcario. He and his father were known to cruise the streets and go everywhere together, they were inseparable. It was there that his father would meet his wife Irma Ballin and they would then become a family. Robert attended Bivins elementary and served as an altar boy at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Robert was a shy but rambunctious child. He attended Austin Middle School and Tascosa High School. As the oldest of his siblings Christina, Isaac, Hopie, and Andrew, they would tell you he was a quiet but charismatic kid. Those who knew Robert could tell you stories of him being a jokester, quiet but silly. He found his love of cars during his early years that he carried with him until the end. Robert met his children’s mother as a teenager where they raised his step daughter Destanie. They went on to have his two greatest loves, Bubba and Lando. Although that relationship ended, he went on to meet his longtime love Lena where they raised Bubba, Lando, Joseph, Justin, and Brianna.
Those who knew Robert will tell you how chaotic and crazy he could be. He lived in Colorado for a bit; he went to live in Tucumcari for a few years before settling down permanently in Amarillo. Most would say he was like his father. He made his living by fixing and selling cars. If there was something he needed or wanted he found a way to get it. Over the years Robert grew his collection of cars. His hobbies were making money and playing with his electronics, especially his drone. Those who would see him in the streets could find him cruising in one of his cars with music bumping. You could always hear him coming before you saw him. His mom would often be so happy to see him she would yell his name loudly, “Roooobbert”. As a self-proclaimed ladies’ man, he would be dressed in his 501 Jeans, a new pair of Nikes and a plaid button-down polo. The thing he looked forward to the most was seeing his children and grandchildren. He always thought he was too young to be a grandpa and wanted to be the cool grandpa. The one thing everyone could tell you about him was his generous spirit. He was the kind of guy you would call at any time of day for help, and he would drop what he was doing and come to help. He would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. So many who loved him share the same story, which is that Robert was down to earth, humble and did a lot for them. Whether it was helping change a flat tire, borrowing a couple dollars, or sharing a laugh.
Although his time on earth was brief his bright smile, quiet selflessness, and loving spirit will shine bright through all those he touched and leaves behind. Ride on in Peace and shine bright.
Robert is preceded in death by his grandparents Esteban and Magdalena Arellano, Esteban and Esperanza Ballin. mother Irma Ballin Arellano , and children’s mother Elena Guzman. Also, niece Savanah Barnes, several cousins, aunts and uncles.
