Robert Lee Taute

Robert Lee Taute, 72, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on March 15, 1953, in Quincy, Illinois, Robert was the beloved son of the late Le Roy and Anneliese Taute. He grew up in Quincy, where he developed a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and a life rooted in integrity—values he carried throughout his life.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy Taute of Amarillo, Texas; his loving sister, Evelyn McDowell of Quincy, Illinois; his children, Andrea Cochran (husband Johnny Cochran) of Houston, Texas; Scott Taute (wife Brittany Taute) of Amarillo, Texas; and Nicole Velasco (husband Rudy Velasco) of Amarillo, Texas. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Hunter and Parker Cochran; J.D., Meredith, and Zoey Taute; and Trace and Tessa Velasco.

In addition, Robert is survived by his brother-in-law, Jim Lammers (wife Karen Lammers) and sister-in-law, Kim Rice (Jeff Cutler)

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Le Roy and Anneliese Taute; brother-in-law, Terry McDowell; nephew, Matthew McDowell; and his mother- and father-in-law, Patricia and James Lammers.

Robert’s legacy is one of quiet strength, deep loyalty, and unwavering love for his family. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Private services will be held by the family at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
