Roger Dee Bristow Jr., 78, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025. Born on April 29, 1947, in Roswell, New Mexico, Roger was the beloved son of Roger Dee Bristow and Jerene Hunt.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 6:30 pm, Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 31, 2025 in Beacon Baptist Church with Curtis Redmond, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
A proud graduate of Roswell High School’s Class of 1966, Roger went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, from October 24, 1966, to August 3, 1973. He was a member of the 62nd Army Band at Fort Bliss, Texas, and later the 84th Army Band in Fulda, Germany. Through his remarkable musical ability, Roger brought comfort to families from all branches of the armed forces. During those years, he developed a deep respect for God, his country, and the values that would guide him throughout the rest of his life.
On June 17, 1969, Roger married the love of his life in El Paso, Texas, beginning a lifelong partnership built on faith, humor, and unwavering devotion. He later began a long and successful career with El Paso Disposal, which became part of Waste Connections. Roger’s dedication and work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and the community alike. After decades of service, he retired in 2015.
Roger was a man of many passions and simple joys — from his love of music and horses to his deep fondness for dogs, fine craftsmanship, and the occasional glass of good whiskey. He appreciated a sharp knife, a well-made gun, and a dependable flashlight. Those who knew him best will remember his quick wit, infectious optimism, and the comforting peace he carried into every room.
More than anything, Roger was a loving husband, devoted father, and steadfast friend. He had a gift for encouragement, always offering words of wisdom, humor, and hope. To many, he was a mentor — a man who found the bright side in every situation and inspired others to do the same.
Roger is survived by his loving wife Twana Bristow and their children Michael S. Bristow, and his wife, Zuzanne; his daughter Lisa Moore; his daughter Kristi Banner, and her husband, David; his daughter Andrea Bristow. Roger also has 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also remembered with love by his sister, Nancy Alvarado and his 5 nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Dee Bristow Sr., and Jerene Hunt. We rest in the certain hope of the resurrection and that we will see him again in God's eternal kingdom.
Roger will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. His faith, kindness, and laughter will continue to shine through the lives he touched.
