Ronald Milton Longanecker

Jun 20, 1942 — Jul 1, 2026

Ronald Milton Longanecker, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was born on June 20, 1942, in Amarillo, Texas.

Ron devoted his life to caring for others through his work as a pediatric dentist in Amarillo, where he built a highly respected practice and earned the admiration of generations of children and their families. His care, professionalism, and dedication to his patients left a lasting impression on the community he served for many years.

In 1963, Ron married the love of his life, Raymona Jean Longanecker. Together they built a marriage that spanned more than six decades, rooted in love, commitment, and resilience.

Ron also served in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1971.

Outside of his profession, Ron found his greatest joy in the outdoors and in exploring the world through travel. He was a meticulous planner of the many trips he took over the years. Whether traveling across the country or abroad, he would spend hours, and often days, researching destinations, mapping routes, and planning every detail in an effort to ensure a rich and memorable experience. Of all the places he explored, none held a more special place in his heart than the Blue Front Ranch in northern New Mexico, where he found peace, adventure, and a deep connection to his family and their heritage. His adventures reflected both his curiosity and his appreciation for the beauty, history, and uniqueness of the places he visited.

Ron was preceded in death by his son, Christian August Longanecker, who passed away in 1990 as a teenager.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Raymona Jean Longanecker. He also leaves behind his son, Travis Longanecker, his wife, Candace, and Travis's daughters, Chloe and Hattie; his son, Jameson Longanecker, his wife, Amy, and their sons, Jett, Kai, and Pax; and his daughter, Constance Wilson, her husband, Clinton, and their children, River, Nera, and Kavia.

Ron's legacy lives on through the countless young lives he touched during his distinguished career in pediatric dentistry, the friendships he built with colleagues throughout his profession, and the family he loved so deeply. His life was one of service, curiosity, adventure, and commitment to those he loved.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, colleagues, patients, and loved ones who have offered their prayers, support, and kindness during this time of loss.

Private services will be held by the family. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo, Texas.
