Ronald Ray Peters

January 21, 1949 — June 11, 2026

Amarillo

Ronald "Ronnie" Ray Peters, age 77 of Amarillo, Texas went to see his heavenly Father and family in Heaven on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Ronnie was born in Wellington, Texas to Mary and H.L. Peters. He grew up in Amarillo, Texas spending his summers at his beloved grandparents, Pa and Ma in Wellington, Texas. Ronnie was a 1967 graduate of Caprock High School and served as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971.

Ronnie loved learning new things, the simple things in life, and two-stepping. He was true, honest and direct. He was a counselor to countless people from all walks of life and a good listener. He was hard to forget. His love was genuine and forever present in all of our lives. He was quite the character. Ronnie gave us positivity, laughter, and always the hope that tomorrow would be a better day.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hunter and Sally Peters and Delbert and Francis Morris; Parents, H.L. and Mary Peters; his sister, Vicki Peters and a brother-in-law, Carlton Werschky.

He is survived by his pride and joy, his son, Hunter Ray Peters; two sisters, Diane Werschky and Marena (Steve) Ingels; Nieces and nephews, Austin Ingels. Gentry (Jr.) Ingels, Kendra (Blue) Baggett, Dustin (Tracie) Howell, Josh (Christy) Howell, Sam (Anne) Werschky, Lisa Werschky, and Amanda (Jason) Johnson and great nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Amarillo VA medical for their compassionate and excellent care. Special thanks to his providers, Shannon and Meridith. And, also to his special neighbor and friend, Faviola.

Ronnie touched many lives. He didn't have to travel to people...people traveled to him. They never left empty handed... always left with a wise word, a bit of laughter, or one of his many collectibles that you had pointed out you liked; he would freely give to you. Ronnie never wanted to be a bother to anyone. When he was in need of something he would still figure out a way to give back. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten on this side of Heaven. Ronnie had some unique sayings when we were leaving as he told you goodbye. We are sure that is what he would have said as he left for his heavenly home. Till Valhalla, Yol Bonson, The Tin Bended and The Story Ended, Take care, and "Carrie" On in an Orderly Manner ....
