Ron Hickman, age 66, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026. He was born on February 26, 1959, in Dumas, Texas to Bill Hickman and the late Patsy Hickman.
Ron was loved by many for his unique quirks – he loved to tell jokes and create stories to make people laugh and was notorious for giving funny and affectionate nicknames to many of his family members and friends. He loved shopping for clothes and was a snazzy dresser. He loved spending hours fishing at his favorite fishing holes in the area and loved cooking. From his early childhood, Ron was an all-American kid. He was a gifted athlete in multiple sports – football, basketball, baseball, and gymnastics. He was a graduate of Canyon High School where he was a talented, All-State “southpaw” pitcher. After high school, he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He worked and retired from AT&T for 28 years. Upon his retirement from AT&T, he helped with the family business, TSC Distributing of Amarillo.
Ron is survived by his father, Bill Hickman, daughter, Abby “Annie” Hickman of Pampa, son, Ronald Coleton “Cole” Hickman of Amarillo, six grandchildren, Braydon (Courtney) McBride-Hunnicutt, Allyson (Edwin) Bannister, Emilee McBride, Rheagan McBride, Aubreigh McBride, Leighton McBride, five great grandchildren, two sisters, Krista Edwards of Amarillo and Kari (John) Cooke of Weimar, Texas, and five nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the funeral home.
