Ronald “Ron” David Walker, 94, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on July 2, 2025.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Ron was born in Grandfield, Oklahoma, on June 25, 1931, to Ethel Irene (Ray) and William Elijah Walker. He graduated from Grandfield High School, where he was a member of the State Championship winning football team. Ron went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Oklahoma and his master’s degree in education from the University of Northern Colorado.
Ron served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.
Ron married Betty “Ann” Powell in Dumas, Texas, at First Baptist Church on December 23, 1961. Together, they have traveled to all but three of the 50 states. They were even able to travel to Switzerland and Germany.
Ron worked for various elementary schools within Amarillo Independent School District, but is most known for being the principal at Paramount Terrace Elementary School.
Ron loved everything about the University of Oklahoma. He especially enjoyed watching football and various other sports, cheering on the Sooners. Ron also loved going out to eat and trying new restaurants as soon as they opened.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers and sisters; and grandson, Josh Hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Betty “Ann” Walker; children, Lee Ann Hunt and husband Kyle, Amy Irene Krizan and husband John, and Brad Walker; and grandchildren, Allison Anzalone and husband Alex, Kailee Krizan, and Maicee Krizan.
