Ronald Earl Weathers

Ronald Earl Weathers passed away July 3, 2026 at the age of 87.

Ronald was born February 1, 1939 to Addie Harrison and Virgil Weathers, Ronald attended Horace Mann Middle School and Palo Duro High School. Upon graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in Japan, California, and Washington state. He was honorably discharged in 1961.

Ronald had a sweetheart in Amarillo, Georgia Jane Fulks. They both wrote letters to each other while serving in the Navy. He returned home in March 1958 and were married. She and Ronald traveled to Whibdy Island, Washington. While in Washington state, they were blessed with a son, Ronald Garland Weathers. After returning to Amarillo, A daughter, Gina Marie Marlow, was born to them in 1962. A second daughter came in 1969, Georgia Jana-Kim Satterfield.

Ronald began working at Pantex in 1962. Ronald also attended night school through Amarillo College where he earned degrees in mid-management and technology. He also attended Wayland Baptist University, where he received Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Education. He used these skills at his career at Pantex, until retiring in 2001.

Georgia and Ronald greatly enjoyed their lives and family. Together, they bought a camper trailer, which they used to travel to many bluegrass festivals, the Great Smoky Mountains, and Yellowstone National Park. This kept them busy until Georgia became ill in 2009, and Ron took good care of her until her death in 2013. Ron continued with his love of bluegrass music. He knew how to play mandolin, fiddle, guitar, and banjo. He even taught himself how to play the piano during the last year of his life.

The family would like to thank BSA Hospice of the Southwest and Giving Home Healthcare for the treatment and love Ron received.

Survivors include his brother, Wayne Weathers of Sayre, Oklahoma, Garland Weathers and wife, Susan, and their children, Clint Weathers, and his wife, Victoria, Kara Owens, and husband Stephen, all from Dallas. Daughter, Gina Marie Marlow of Amarillo. Daughter, Jana-Kim Satterfield and husband, Gary Satterfield of Amarillo, their children, Garrett Satterfield and girlfriend, Stephanie Rocha, Janie Satterfield, and wife, Alli Seemann. And very special friend, Von Simpkins of Amarillo.

Ronald was preceded in death by his mother, father, his brother Ray Weathers, his wife Georgia, and a son-in-law, James Marlow.

Visitation will be from 6-7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
