Ronald "Ronn" Wood

Ronald “Ronn” Wood, 77, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on September 25, 2025.

Visitation will be held from 2:00–4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo. Interment will be private at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Ronn was born on February 1, 1948, in Wellington, Texas, to Floyd Rudell and Lou Ellen Wood. A true advocate for Amarillo, he was best known as the founder of AmaChron The Entertainers and Amarillo Graffiti. In 1970, Ronn launched the area’s first mobile sound and light dance entertainment company, bringing music and memories to schools, weddings, reunions, company events, and community gatherings across the five-state region. Through his AmaChron and Amarillo Graffiti websites, Ronn preserved and shared photographs of Amarillo’s history, as well as images from AmaChron dances, capturing its people and places across generations.

An avid photographer, Ronn rarely missed an opportunity to capture special moments—whether at a dance, parade, or the Amarillo Tri-State Fair. His passion for the fair was unmatched, attending faithfully for 66 years, missing only in 2025. Known as the go-to source for music, Ronn had an unparalleled collection of records, tapes, and CDs, always ready to provide the perfect song.

Ronn will be remembered not only for his talents but also for his deep friendships and love for those around him. With a remarkable memory and wealth of knowledge, he could recall events and details down to the date. In his spare time, he was a movie enthusiast who delighted in recommending the perfect film to anyone who asked.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Rudell Wood; his mother, Lou Ellen Barnes; stepfather, Bill Barnes; sister, Joyce Williams, and her husband, Gaston; and brother, Tommy Wood.

Survivors include his sister, Vicky Harris, along with numerous nieces and nephews, who will cherish his memory.
