Russell Douglas Conally, 79, of Amarillo, Texas, went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2026 peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Visitation will be from 6-7:00 PM on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2026 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo.
Doug was born on October 20, 1946, in Amarillo, Texas to his parents, R.D Connally and Jewel Connally. He enjoyed raising and showing pigeons. He later on became a licensed poultry judge. He served our country in the National Guard in 1965. He later adopted his son Ronnie Connally in June of 1975. He cared and loved Ronnie very much. He married his best friend Carol Connally on December 4, 2003. Doug and Carol enjoyed traveling across the country for judging, during those travels they both created lifelong friends. Doug dedicated his career working at Pantex for 39 years. He was a very caring person, and he loved his family very much. He will be missed dearly by family, friends, and anyone who had the chance to meet him.
He is preceded in death by his parents R.D Connally and Jewel Connally of Amarillo, Texas. Parents-in-law, J.T Gunnels and Christine Gunnels of Tulia, Texas. His daughter and his 2 sons and Ronnie Connally of Amarillo, Texas. His sister Patricia Mullican and brother-in-law of Amarillo, Texas. Sister-in-law Judy Love of Canyon, Texas. Step-Daughter Tricia Speed of Tulia, Texas. Nephew Rodney Early of Amarillo, Texas.
He is survived by his wife Carol Connally of Amarillo, Texas, his step-son Cody Davis of Tulia, Texas, sister Sharon Cox of Levelland, brother-in-law Jackie Gunnels and his wife Brenda Gunnels of Amarillo, Texas, brother-in-law Danny Love along with a great number of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces, and great-nephews that will deeply miss him.
