Austin

Ryan Robert King passed away in his home in Austin, Texas on July 18, 2025.

Ryan was born on October 19, 1999, in Lubbock, Texas to Robert Wade King and Toby Joe King.

Ryan is survived by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Danielle and Clayton Wall of Brooklyn, New York, his maternal grandfather, Robert Odle of Kingman, Arizona, his paternal grandmother, Melba King of Muleshoe, Texas, an aunt, Casey Lee of Kerrville, Texas, his beloved cousins, Blake Baker of Dallas, Texas, Nick Baker of Austin, Texas, and Kamryn Lee of Kerrville, Texas, and his devoted springer spaniel, Dusty Bottoms.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joe King, and his maternal grandmother, Sharon Odle.

Ryan graduated from Amarillo High School in 2018 where he played football and baseball, and ran track. In 2023 he earned a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. After graduation Ryan joined Austin Bridge & Road, Inc. as an engineer where he worked on projects expanding Interstate 35 between Austin and San Antonio, and Austin Bergstrom International Airport.

From an early age Ryan was fascinated with how things work. He loved to take things apart and put them back together. Engineering was a natural fit. He loved being outdoors. When he wasn’t playing sports, he loved to hunt, fish, and camp. A big sports fan, Ryan loved college football, especially his Texas Longhorns, and the Texas Rangers. He was a loyal friend with a huge kind heart and a wonderful sense of humor.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 S. Soncy Road, Amarillo, Texas, at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Ryan’s name to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund maintained by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country (www.communityfoundation.net) to assist those impacted by the devastating floods in Central Texas.
