Sally Elaine Lynch

August 6, 1936 — December 12, 2025

Sally Lynch of Amarillo, Texas, received her eternal reward on December 12, 2025.

Sally Elaine Curtis Lynch was born at her home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, on August 6, 1936, to Dolpha “Dot” Ella Hess Curtis and William Anderson Curtis. She attended Tahlequah High School, graduating in 1954. On April 16, 1955, she married the love of her life, her partner, caregiver, and best friend, Earl Lynch. Together, Earl and Sally raised five wonderful children. Sally was a devoted Air Force wife for 20 years while Earl faithfully served our country.

Sally was best known for her deep love and care for children. She was a nurturing and dedicated mother not only to her own family and their friends, but she also gave her time, energy, and heart to countless children throughout the years, teaching them about Jesus and unconditional love. Along with her husband Earl and dear friends Dale and Barbara Young, Sally served as one of the first house parents for the Children’s Emergency Home, a transitional home for children awaiting placement with foster families.

Later, Sally earned her Montessori teaching certificate under the supervision of Zoe Judge and began teaching Montessori preschool at Amarillo Christian School, a role she truly loved. After the school closed, she continued her Montessori work by licensing her home for daycare. Ms. Sally’s School provided many children with the educational foundation they needed to succeed, but more importantly, her love and care showed them the love of Christ.

Sally was a lifelong Christian. She and Earl placed membership at the Lawndale Church of Christ, later known as Comanche Trail Church of Christ, where they faithfully served for many years through multiple seasons of growth and change. Sally served her church family by teaching Bible classes, hosting small-group fellowship and study in her home, preparing meals, and always offering a warm hug and a welcoming smile—especially to children.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Holland Dale “Bud” Curtis, William Archie Curtis, and Charles Curtis; and her sisters, Jean Ward, Shirley Curtis, Rose Marie McFall, and Ethelene Head.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Earl Lynch; her sister, Mary Hendrickson of Denison, Texas, and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Curtis of Ivanhoe, Texas. Her children: Steven Lynch of Lubbock; Samuel Lynch and wife Brenda of Paradise; Rodger Lynch and wife Toni of Stephenville; Charles Lynch and wife Kelly of Amarillo; and Amy Sumpter and husband Shelby of Pottsboro. She was richly blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
