Shannon Bret Richardson, 65, of Bushland, TX passed away September 11, 2026.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 14, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Bret was born May 14, 1961 in Hereford, TX to Donald and Charlene Richardson. Growing up, Bret could be found running amuck with his brothers or spoiling his little sister. Chasing jackrabbits, popping wheelies, or riding his horse was where his heart was and he fell in love with the country life.
Bret graduated from Vega High School in 1979. Soon after graduation, he went to work at Richardson’s Seeds. He showed his creativity and had a talent for construction. Bret was a gifted problem solver and was able to build just about anything. Any extra time Bret had was spent with a guitar in his hands. Along with his brothers, cousin, and friend, he formed the band, County Line. Bret became a different person every time he stepped on the stage. He loved music and was also a talented song writer with our favorite being, “Lead You Up To Heaven.”
Bret built a precious life with his wife of 44 years, Terri Axe. His most prized purchase was when he bought the tiny pink cowboy boots for his daughter Katy Sue on the day she was born. Katy and her husband went on to bless him and Terri with 4 beautiful granddaughters. They truly were his pride and joy. Bret, aka “Grandpa” spent countless hours building a swing set, playhouse, and anything else they asked for. Grandpa’s most joyful adventure was driving the RV to Katy’s house and entertaining the girls.
Bret fought the good fight. He lived his life to the fullest! His huge heart and incredible sense of humor will be greatly missed amongst all those he chose to let in.
Bret was preceded in death by his brother, Trent Richardson, and his mom, Charlene Richardson.
