Sharon Hagans Bray

Sharon Hagans Bray, surrounded by her family and friends, met her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 1, 2023.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Amarillo in the Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the Montgomery Home. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

She was born in Hereford, Texas on September 7, 1949, to Bettye and Preston “Red” Hagans whose family came to the area via covered wagon.

She grew up in Hereford and graduated from Hereford High School in 1968. During high school, she played the clarinet in the band and made numerous lifelong friends.

She attended Amarillo College Radiology School and became an X-ray technician at St. Anthony’s Hospital. She married Bob Robinson in 1974.  She got her CDL and drove the Lithotripter Motor Coach all over the Panhandle for kidney stone treatment.  With her careful attention to detail Sharon had many supervisor jobs in the X-ray area. She was a member of a square dance team and loved country music and dancing before her unfortunate MS. Sharon worked for Tony Rhodes at Plains Machinery from 1980-1985.

She married Charlie Bray and lived in Lubbock until she found out she had Multiple Sclerosis in 1992. After moving to Amarillo, Sharon worked for her cousin Don at Cartwright Trailer Sales from 2000-2017. As a secretary and receptionist, she greeted all the customers with her friendly smile. She reviewed titles and did secretary work.

She lived alone, drove a van with her hands, cooked for herself, drove her mother and best buddy Bettye Hagans to doctors appointments, to eat at Abuelo’s (their favorite spot), nail and hair appointments and other errands. Despite Sharon’s paralysis she had a smile on her face and a fun, eager, strong spirit that served her and others well. She attended Bible study weekly and loved their lunches afterwards. She served with others unselfishly in Christian love. She babysat her great-nieces, loved holidays with family where she would bring her famous pinwheels. Her Christmas gifts were thoughtful and always included an “As Seen on TV” gift we looked forward to getting. Some have come in handy, and it was a fun surprise for her to treat her family.

Aunt Sharon made life fun with her laugh, love, and knowledge about movies.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Red, who passed away in 2010; and her bestie and mother, Bettye, who went to see Jesus in March 2022.

She is survived by two sisters, Janice Mills and husband Jerry of Coppell, and Tammy Repman and husband Joe of Lake Jackson; niece, Shelly Montgomery and  husband Jeff of Amarillo; niece, Debbie Repman of Pearland; nephew, Michael Repman and wife Jessica of Seabrook; niece, Cathy Repman Tate and husband Stephen of Pearland; great-niece, Hagan Montgomery of OSU in Stillwater; great-niece Laney Montgomery of TCU in Fort Worth; great-nieces, Addison and Rylee Repman of Seabrook; great-nephews, Preston and Tanner Repman of Pearland; cousin like a sister, Jearene Cartwright and husband Don and their kids, Tiffany Gibson and husband Bennie of Amarillo, Leslie Whitaker and husband Jeff of Amarillo, Bryan Cartwright and wife Tina of Canyon; and cousin, Connie Blakes and husband Lonnie of Abernathy and family.

Although Sharon was small in stature, her life was full with her love of God, determination, and love for her family.
