Sharon Lynn Hagerman “Sweetie”

Sharon Lynn Hagerman of Amarillo, Texas left her earthly body to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday March 13, 2022.  One of her last wishes was to go to church but the Lord took her to her heavenly home.  Sharon was blessed to be in her own home surrounded by family and friends at the time of her peaceful departure to Heaven.  Born May 28, 1941, in Amarillo, TX to parents, Alice E. Milligan and J. Lee Milligan who both preceded her in death.

Sharon met the love of her life, Swanson Hagerman, in study hall at Amarillo High in 1958.  On their first date, instead of going to the picture show, Sharon asked Swanson to go to church with her.  Sweetie, as Swanson referred to her all her life, invited him to church where Swanson met God and was Saved, taking Jesus into his heart forever.  Swanson’s salvation and their joint love for the Lord guided them together on their journey through life.

Sharon and Swanson were married on June 5, 1959.  Their deep-rooted faith in the Lord set the foundation in which they raised their two children which has been passed to their five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. It all started with the first date at church.  The two children, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren are very thankful they did not start out with the picture show.

Sharon’s gift and passion was pleasing others with her good cooking and hospitality.  Someone was always over for Sunday dinner and fellowship.  Sharon was a homemaker when her children were young and later owned and operated Martha’s Midtown Bed and Breakfast.  The Bed and Breakfast fulfilled her love for serving others and her absolute pleasure of meeting new people and introducing them to the Lord by her actions and her words.  Martha’s Bed and Breakfast was the perfect name as Sharon took on another nickname of Martha from God’s word.  Sharon, Sweetie, and Martha was always looking to serve others and she loved every minute of it.  Sharon was truly loved by everyone she came across in life and she loved them back.

Sharon was a member of Grace Baptist Church in her early life and moved over to Faith Baptist around 1970.  In 2013, Sharon and Swanson found a new church home at First Baptist in Amarillo.  Although Sharon loved all the friendships established in her previous church homes, upon joining First Baptist, Sharon told Swanson “Why didn’t we start here in the first place?”  Sharon loved her church families.

Sharon will be most remembered for her pure servant heart, endless generosity, ability to encourage and love others unconditionally, and her admiration of her family, especially her sweetheart for life, on this earth and for eternity, Swanson.

Sharon is survived by her Husband Swanson Hagerman, her two children Darrel Hagerman of Spring, Texas (wife Paula Diane Schniederjan Hagerman), Kimberly Nall of Carrollton, Texas (husband Will), as well as five grandchildren Mindy Whitaker of Houston, Carly Wallace of Burleson, Texas, Kayla Nall of Carrollton, Texas, Milly Hollek of Conroe, Texas and Darrel Nall of Carrollton, Texas, and seven great-grandchildren Dawson Wallace (13) of Burleson, Jules Wallace (8) of Burleson, Dani Whitaker (5) of Houston, Max Wallace (5) of Burleson, Easton Hollek (4) of Conroe, Emma Hollek (2) of Conroe, Ollie Whitaker (2) of Houston with number eight great-grandchild, Baby Hollek due to arrive April 14, 2022.
