Shawn Hollis Carter

Shawn Hollis Carter, 50, of Amarillo, TX passed away April 8, 2026.

Memorial service will be at 4:00 PM, Monday, April 13, 2026 at Hillside Christian Church West Campus, 6100 S. Soncy. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Shawn was born August 10, 1975 in Canyon, TX to Robert and Jo Alice Carter. He had grown up in Canyon and Amarillo. Shawn was an ASC Certified Mechanic and Diesel Mechanic. He worked at Vermeer Bobcat and previously for Warren Cat. He married Heather Reid on February 3, 1995 in Amarillo.

He built and drove race cars. He also loved dirt bikes, going to the mountains, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Shawn enjoyed restoring classic cars. Shawn was a member at Hillside Christian Church.

Shawn is survived by his wife, Heather Carter; son, Dakota Ray Carter and wife Madeline of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Ashley Carter of El Reno, OK; sister, Stacey K. Carter of Amarillo, TX; and grandchildren, McKenzie Ballew, Elena Paige Ballew, and one on the way.
