Shelley Irene Truesdell, 71, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on October 29, 2026.

Burial will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton, Texas. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Shelley was born on January 7, 1955, in Kermit, Texas, to Peggy Ima (Lawrence) and Jesse Earl Young. She grew up in Fort Stockton, Texas, where she graduated from Fort Stockton High School. She continued her education at Angelo State University and Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas.

It was in Fort Stockton that Shelley met the love of her life, Robert Dale Truesdell, at a party. Their first date was at the Boots and Saddle in Odessa, Texas, and as they say, the rest is history. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, family, and countless cherished memories.

Shelley worked for many years as a bank teller at Pecos County State Bank and First National Bank, where she was undoubtedly the best-dressed teller around. In fact, Shelley was often the best-dressed person in any room. She had a natural sense of style, a touch of class, and one very important rule: never leave the house without lipstick!

If there was one thing Shelley loved, it was laughter. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making those around her smile. More often than not, Shelley would start laughing at her own joke before she could even finish telling it, which only made everyone else laugh harder. She brought joy wherever she went, always with her signature combination of humor, warmth, and class.

Shelley had a generous heart and would do anything for anyone without a second thought. Her faith and involvement in the church were important parts of her life, and she was loved by so many throughout the communities she called home. She had a special way of making people feel loved, whether through a thoughtful gesture, a good laugh, or simply being there when someone needed her.

Above all else, Shelley loved her family. She took great pride in being a wife, mother, sister, aunt, and especially “Grandmom” to her beloved grandchildren. She loved creating personalized T-shirts and gifts with her Cricut machine, always finding another reason to make something special for someone she loved. And no one could send a “sussie” quite like Shelley. Her grandbabies knew that Grandmom’s thoughtful little gifts were never far behind, each one a reminder of just how much she loved them.

Shelley will be remembered for her infectious laughter, impeccable style, generous spirit, unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories, countless reasons to smile, and a family who will forever carry her love in their hearts.

And if there’s one thing we know, it’s that Shelley would want us to remember her with a smile, share a good laugh, and, of course, never forget our lipstick.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Peggy and Jesse Young.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Dale Truesdell; sons, Anthony Wayne Truesdell and wife Tammy, Chad Allan Truesdell and wife Janith, and James Ross Truesdell; daughter, Brittany Shay Doyle and husband John; grandchildren, Dryden Baker, Hunter Truesdell, Robert Tyler Truesdell, Christopher Truesdell, Watson Doyle, Monroe Doyle, and Gemma Doyle; sister, Rachel Dunagan and husband Trey; brother, Greg Young and wife Genora; and nieces, Lauren Havard, Suzanne Zaitz, Racshel Brunken, and Noelle Mulkey.
