Shirley Jean Ingels

Shirley "Jean" Gilbert Ingels, age 97 passed away on January 29, 2026.

Services will be held privately at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Jean was born November 25, 1928 in Ellsworth, KS to Ulery and Gladys Gilbert. She married Robert (Bob) Ingels on November 25, 1949 in lola, KS.

Jean enjoyed annual camping trips with her family and was known for her famous gingersnap cookies! She also was a gifted quilter. Jean worked at J.C. Penney's for many years. After her retirement she volunteered as a tutor at Oakdale Elementary School. Jean served as a Boy Scout & Girl Scout leader as her children were growing up.

Jean never spoke a negative word about anyone or anything only choosing to see the positive in everyone and life in general. This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful woman has left a permanent mark of grace etched on our hearts and will be missed by her family & friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Bob Ingels; her daughter, Debbie Dunavin; her daughter-in-law, Dana Ingels; and her great-grandson, Lorenzo David Parades.

She will be missed by the family that cherished her; three sons Steve and wife Marena Ingels, Dale Ingels, and David and wife Lisa Ingels; her son-in-law Mike Dunavin; six grandchildren, April (Gannon) Tucker, Jarrod (Kelly) Dunavin, Branda (Jerry) Morales, Krisha (David Parades, Austin Ingels and Gentry Ingels; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Lloyd of Tulsa, OK; a brother, Lee (Jane) Gilbert of Overland, Kansas; and many other loving family members and friends.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Hamilton House (Brenda Christy) Care Team and BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their loving and compassionate care.
