Simon Cano, 94, passed from this life on Monday, June 8, 2026. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13th, at 1:00 PM at The Cross Church, 829 N Dumas Ave, Pastor Diego Mendoza officiating. The family will also receive visitors at The Cross Church on Thursday, June 11th, and Friday, June 12th, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Simon was born on January 24,1932 in La Colonia Esperanza, Chihuahua, México to Jesus and Casimira Cano. He established his career in the agricultural industry and came to the United States as a brazero eventually settling his family in Moore County in 1964. He was happiest during family gatherings surrounded by his grandchildren whom he loved immensely. He enjoyed playing card games with them and teaching them about gardening. After retirement, he enjoyed long days of fishing but his greatest passion was diving deeply into Bible study because of his love and devotion to his Lord and Savior. He was a longtime member of the Assemblies of God where he served in many leadership roles but thriving as Sunday School Superintendent. Simon fought the good fight, finished the race, then was called home to be with his heavenly Father.
Simon is survived by his wife of 71 years, Felipa Cano of Dumas; two daughters, Elda Cano of Dumas, and Flora Paredes and husband, Jorge, of Dumas; three sons, David Cano and wife, Gloria, of La Vernia, Texas, Johnny Cano of Dumas, and Simon Cano, Jr. and wife, Judith, of Amarillo; two sisters, Inez Castillo of Dumas and Rosa Cano of Mexico; two brothers, Adolfo Cano of Dumas and Joel Cano of Boise City, Idaho; eleven grandchildren, Christy, Sara, Angelica, Michael, Mark, Monica, Joshua, Dalila, Jonathan, Kaitlyn, and Matthew; seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Simon's absence will be intensely felt and he will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo el sábado 13 de junio a la 1:00 p. m. en The Cross Church, ubicada en 829 N Dumas Ave, oficiados por el pastor Diego Mendoza. La familia también recibirá visitas en The Cross Church el jueves 11 y el viernes 12 de junio, de 11:00 a. m. a 7:00 p. m.

A Simon le sobreviven su esposa durante 71 años, Felipa Cano, de Dumas; dos hijas, Elda Cano, de Dumas, y Flora Paredes (y su esposo Jorge), de Dumas; tres hijos, David Cano (y su esposa Gloria), de La Vernia, Texas, Johnny Cano, de Dumas, y Simon Cano Jr. (y su esposa Judith), de Amarillo; dos hermanas, Inez Castillo, de Dumas, y Rosa Cano, de México; dos hermanos, Adolfo Cano, de Dumas, y Joel Cano, de Boise City, Idaho; once nietos: Christy, Sara, Angelica, Michael, Mark, Monica, Joshua, Dalila, Jonathan, Kaitlyn y Matthew; así como diecisiete bisnietos y un tataranieto.
Su ausencia se sentirá profundamente y será muy extrañado por sus seres queridos.
