Sixto Mario Cordova, Jr., 52, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on June 12, 2025.

Memorial services will be at 4:30 P.M., Monday, June 16, 2025, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Pastor Robbie Ashlock officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mario was born in Tucumcari, NM on July 18, 1972, to Maxine (Benavidez) and Sixto Mario Cordova, Sr. He was the oldest of six children. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1990 and went on to receive a degree from Vista College. Mario spent most of his time in the food service industry, but also did trade work like roofing, plumbing, and whatever else he could get his hands on.

Mario above all loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was known by his family as “Pappy”.

Mario enjoyed traveling with his mom, bowling, watching WWE and WWF, taking an afternoon nap, watching Storage Wars, and eating different foods. He could be found rocking out to all types of music in the car and at his home. He loved going to rock concerts and making late night trips to Walmart or to get food.

Mario paid attention to details and what people enjoyed. He would then try to get each person what they liked. His mom collected owls, and he would always get her owls as gifts. He loved and accepted everyone around him and was always full of laughter and fun.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tillie and Pablo Benavidez, and Luichi and Sixto Juan Cordova; his father, Sixto Mario Cordova, Sr., his niece, Bell Gutierrez; and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his mother, Maxine Benavidez (Pat); his children, Kellie Speak-Brasseaux (Erica), Xzavier Cordova, Sr. (Teanna), Raven Cordova (Kensly), Meranda Cordova (Quay), and Madaysha Cordova (Dre); grandchildren, Xzavier Cordova, Jr., August Fincher, Sebastian Cordova, Madalynn Cordova, Stephenie Cordova, Amiah Gonzales, Adonis Yarbrough, and Kyree Gonzales; siblings, Beatrice Creamer (Ken), Juan Cordova, Carlos Cordova, Gabriel Gutierrez (Yesenia), and Julian Gutierrez; and nieces and nephews, Jackson and Jillian Creamer, Matthew, Anthony, Blake, Chloe, Kamry Cordova, Thalia, Aubrey, Gabriel, Azariah, Layana Gutierrez, Micaela, Julian Jr., and Elijah Gutierrez, Alyssa, and Juan Jr. Cordova.
