Steven was born on March 4, 1958, in Fort Collins, Colorado, to Bobby A. and Jane Ann Stewart. He graduated from Amarillo High and Amarillo College, attended Texas Tech, and graduated from University of Texas at Arlington and University of Houston as an Architect.
Living in Colorado until the age of 10, he loved the family outings in the mountains with his younger brother and sister. Even at that time, he was inspired by buildings, and a visit to the Brown Palace Hotel led him to construct numerous Lego structures. As a licensed architect, he designed countless homes, several churches, motels, and businesses in Amarillo and the surrounding area. The area was not just his home; it was his canvas, his story, and his heart. His buildings, filled with his vision and care, stand strong, quietly echoing his spirit.
Steven was an Eagle Scout, and during his scouting years, he liked to camp, but never loved fishing because it hurt the fish, which was not fun. Later, he did a lot of biking, and while working in Nashville, he bicycled across Tennessee and later participated in the Hotter’n Hell 100 Endurance bike ride in Wichita Falls.
Steven is survived by his daughter, Summer Marie Stewart; his parents, Dr. Bobby A. and Jane Ann Stewart; brother, Gregory Neal Stewart; sister, Judith Ann Meadow; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Sarah Louise Pfiefer, and son, Shane Lewis Stewart.
