Sunny Roberts Posey, 80, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Sunny was born on March 5, 1945, in Joplin, Missouri, and moved to Amarillo during her junior high years. She graduated from Amarillo High School, attended Amarillo College, and later earned her MA in Counseling from West Texas State University. Sunny went on to establish a meaningful counseling practice in Amarillo, where she touched many lives with her insight and compassion.
Sunny married Dr. Randal E. Posey, the love of her life, on December 31, 1991. Together they shared a joyful life marked by deep connection, partnership and unique humor.
Sunny was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl “Pat” Pierce and Leland Roberts, and by her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Randa and Bill Norman.
She is survived by her husband, Randal; her daughters Shannon Hill White and her husband, Taylor; and Kelly Hill; her stepdaughter, Allison Posey Gilbreath and her husband, Eric, her stepson David Posey and his wife, Dusty; and seven treasured grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece, Kemily Norman and nephews, Chuck Norman and Kirk Norman. Additionally, Sunny leaves behind her cherished “Bridge Club” friends, with whom shared countless memories and Thursday lunches.
Sunny was a longtime member of Polk Street Methodist Church where she met and married her first husband, David G. Hill, the father of her daughters, Shannon and Kelly. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Amarillo and joyfully served for several years as a Hallelujah Singer.
A woman of deep empathy, Sunny loved listening to and encouraging others. She was devoted to her community at Al-Anon, a place that brought her healing and purpose. Those who knew Sunny will remember her gentle spirit and the way she had of making others feel seen and loved. Sunny also had a gift for creating beauty in every space she touched, leaving warmth and grace wherever she went.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff of The Moore at Park Central for their compassionate and loving care of Sunny.
