On May 30, 2026, after a three-year battle with metastatic breast cancer, our beloved mother, wife, daughter, and friend, Susan Elizabeth White Lewis, went home to be with her Savior.
Susan was born on August 4, 1965, in Borger, TX to Linda Lambert and John Thompson White. From an early age, she was deeply involved in the arts, participating in dance, piano, and choir. After graduating from Borger High School in 1983, she moved to Houston, where she began a successful career in finance and banking. It was in Houston that Susan met her best friend and the love of her life, Sam. The two were married on March 26, 1994, and together they built a beautiful life, welcoming two daughters, Emma and Claire. Susan was a devoted and deeply involved mother who never missed an opportunity to support her children’s passions, activities, and dreams. Susan never met a stranger. She was a friend to everyone she encountered and a dedicated member of her community. She worked for nearly ten years at Amarillo National Bank, volunteered with the Lone Star Ballet Guild and the Amarillo Little Theatre Guild, sang in her church choir, and served on multiple PTA boards. Her generosity, enthusiasm, and servant’s heart left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Susan was a two-time breast cancer survivor, first diagnosed in 2006 and again in 2020. Despite the challenges she faced, she carried herself with remarkable strength, grace, and faith. She had a gift for bringing warmth and joy wherever she went, and her unmistakable laugh could be heard from across the room.
She is preceded in death by her father, John T. White; stepfather, Bill Walker; mother and father-in-law, Charlene and Bill Lewis; and niece, Marissa Rodriquez.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Sam Lewis; daughters Emma and Claire Lewis; her mother, Linda Walker of Amarillo, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Hilda Lewis of Angleton, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Susan and Kenneth Armstrong of Hockley, TX, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be held at Westcliff Bible Church on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Susan was known for her love of bold patterns and bright colors, so guests are encouraged to wear bright, colorful attire in her honor.
Susan will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
2 Corinthians 16-18: “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
