Teresa “Resa” Gaye Stone, 70, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on May 2, 2025.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. – 7:30 P.M., Monday, May 5, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 6, 2025 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Stan Cosby officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Resa was born in Amarillo, Texas on September 15, 1954, to Bessie Winona (Oakley) and Jimmy Vaughan Purser. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1973 where she played the flute in the band, was a twirler, and performed leading roles in high school theater. She received a bachelor's degree from West Texas State University, with a major in Organ Performance and a minor in Piano Performance. She also received her all-level Choral Music Certification to teach.
Resa was gifted with both the piano and the organ, playing for over 40 years. She played for many churches in Amarillo including San Jacinto Methodist Church, Polk Street Methodist Church, Trinity Methodist Church, First Christian Church, and most recently St. Stephen Church of Amarillo. Resa enjoyed teaching piano and music lessons to elementary, middle, and high school students and working as a music teacher.
Resa married Danny Ray Stone at Polk Street Methodist Church in Amarillo, Texas on January 29, 1994.
Resa loved spending time with her family and never missed any of the grandkids sporting events or extracurricular activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Ray Stone; children, Josh Luscombe and wife Rachel; Jamie Jupe and husband Matt; Jenna Luscombe; and Steven Stone and wife Katelyn; sister, Deborah Bandy and husband Phil; and grandchildren, Tori Thompson, Morgan Luscombe, Mason Luscombe, Parker and wife Daisy Stone, Ryder Stone, and Joy Stone.
