Terry Lee Kyle

Feb 20, 1952 — Sep 6, 2026

Terry Lee Kyle passed away September 6th 2026, in Dumas, Texas.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Church of Christ in Sunray, Texas. Burial will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N Maddox Ave.

He was born to Verla Mae Miller and William Louis Kyle on February 20th 1952 in Sayre, Oklahoma.

Terry went to school in Cheyenne, Oklahoma and Sunray, Texas and graduated in 1970. Six years later, in 1977, he married his lovely wife, Ellen Schmidt. In 1980, they welcomed Carolyn Diane into their small family and in 1982, they added Carrie Elizabeth into the family.

Terry was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors. He taught his two sons-in-law all about hunting and was there to guide them along the way. Some of his favorite memories were made with his Oklahoma cousins, hunting, fishing, eating, and recalling memories from the good ole days.

Terry never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone about anything. Being a salesman most of his life gave him the ability to travel around and meet all sorts of people he would share his gift of gab with. He had a memory like an elephant and could recall most things people told him with great accuracy.

He dearly loved the Lord and was a member of the 14th Street Church of Christ.

As his children grew up, his family grew a little more with the addition of 2 sons-in-law, Ryan Ferguson to Carolyn and Arend Gressley to Carrie. He considered his family complete with the birth of his 3 grandchildren: Pearson, Brooklyn, and Norah.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ellen, his parents, two sisters, Nina Ellison and Roxy Newcomb, and his brother-in-law, Butch Ellison.

Survivors include his children, Carolyn Ferguson and husband Ryan, Carrie Gressley and husband Arend; grandchildren, Pearson and Brooklyn Ferguson, and Norah Gressley; sister, Billye Zak and Joe; brother-in-law, Jack Newcomb; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom he dearly loved.
