Thomas “Tommy” Edward Scott, Jr., 73, of Amarillo passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, in Dallas, TX.

Rosary will be said at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, October 19, 2023, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Mass will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 20, 2023, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church with Father Guadalupe Mayorga as celebrant. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Tommy was born May 2, 1950, in San Jose, CA, to Thomas and Ramona Scott. At the age of 15, he moved to El Paso, TX, in 1965, where he helped his father raise his four brothers. In December 1968, he met the love of his life, Linda Murphy. They were married on May 3, 1969, and were married for 53 years.

In 1980, Tommy and Linda moved their family to Amarillo, where he began his career in the restaurant industry. He also worked for Amarillo Independent School District as the head custodian of Western Plateau Elementary School. Known as “Mr. Tommy,” he had touched so many lives as he loved all the students as his own and the staff became his second family. In 2015, he received the Bob Ashworth Award for Outstanding Services. Tommy was the first and only custodian to ever receive this award. He retired in 2016.

Tommy loved spending time with his family and friends, traveling, working in the yard and watching his grandkids play sports. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and football. He was a huge fan of the Washington Redskins.

He was greeted in Heaven by his parents.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Scott; two daughters, Kathy Miles and husband Chris and Melissa Ramirez and husband Jimmy, all of Amarillo; a son, Thomas Scott III and wife Shannon of Amarillo; four brothers, Manuel Scott of El Paso, Joey Scott of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Scott of El Paso and Steve Scott and wife Corina of Tolleson, AZ; eight grandchildren, Amanda Figueroa and husband Kit, Kourtney Calderon and Alex, Brittney Vasquez and Adrian, Thomas Scott IV and Elena, Makinzie Scott, Rustin Miles, Brooklyn Ramirez and Lauren Miles, all of Amarillo; five great-grandchildren, A.J. Figueroa, Alayna Pedroza, Elian Figueroa, Caín Lopez and Ella Scott, all of Amarillo; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; and numerous friends who Tommy called family.
