Thomas Eugene Malone, 74, of Amarillo, TX passed away on July 20, 2024. Born on May 25, 1950, in Carlsbad, NM, Thomas, known to many as Pastor Tom, lived a life devoted to his faith, family, and community.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Weldon Eugene Malone; his mother, Annie Lorene Malone; and his sister, Cheryl Lewis.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 51 years, Karen Malone; his sons, Caleb Malone and Michael Malone; and his cherished granddaughters, Angel Brinlee, Morgan Malone, and Claire Malone. He was also the proud great-grandfather to Jayden Brinlee and Cody Brinlee. Thomas leaves behind his dear sisters, Barbara Roberts and Sue England, and his brother, Ronald Malone.
Pastor Tom dedicated his life to ministry, serving as the pastor of Living Waters Worship Center from 1984 to 1999, and then leading Gateway Church Amarillo from 1999 until his passing in 2024. In addition to his pastoral work, Thomas retired from the United States Postal Service in 2018, after many years of dedicated service.
Throughout his life, Thomas was known for his unwavering love of God, his family, and his church. He was a visionary leader, whose compassion and dedication touched countless lives. Pastor Tom loved people deeply, and in turn, he was deeply loved by all who knew him.
He will be remembered as a man of great faith, kindness, and vision. His legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of Thomas’ life will be at 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to missions or missionaries of your choice, or to your favorite charity.
He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
