Timothy "Tim" W. White

January 11, 1958 — November 9, 2024

Timothy Wayne White, 66, passed peacefully from this earthly life into his forever home on November 9, 2024. His family and friends mourn their loss but rejoice that Tim ran a great race, crossed the finish line, and received his reward.

Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, December 6, 2024 at the Church of Christ at the Colonies with Steve Bailey officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Tim was the youngest of James and Delois White’s three children. Tim had two older siblings, Alice and Jim, who he loved to pester as a child, but as an adult, he respected and enjoyed. A natural athlete, Tim spent his childhood biking, swimming, and playing sports. A favorite memory was running barefoot at a park track meet and winning every race. His athleticism continued through junior high and high school, earning him a track letter. Tim graduated from Oklahoma Christian College in 1980 with a double major in Physical Education and Science Education.

During college, Tim met Lisa and they married in 1980. They enjoyed being involved in church work and activities, traveling, going to the movies, playing games, and just being together at home. Together for 44 years, they raised three exceptional children and were blessed with two extra sons by marriage. Tim loved being a dad and was involved in his children’s lives—coaching Michael to Eagle Scout, cheering on Whitney’s wrestling matches, and encouraging Abby in her music and theatrical performances. All three kids helped their dad mow lawns every summer. Tim modeled a strong work ethic, unwavering faith, and an incredible sense of humor.

Tim’s joy multiplied when he became “Popi” to his grandchildren, Matthew and Raylee. He adored playing with Matthew and marveled at his imagination. Though he didn’t get to hold Raylee, he loved her with all his heart.

A lifelong adventurer, Tim cherished camping, traveling, and trying new things. From whitewater rafting to zip-lining over Palo Duro Canyon, he embraced the thrill of discovery. This year, he and Lisa fulfilled their dream of visiting the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls. Tim was also talented in music, playing piano by ear, singing, and enjoying everything from hymns, to rock n roll, to bluegrass.

Professionally, Tim dedicated his life to education. He spent 13 years teaching and coaching in Edmond, Oklahoma, followed by 23 years as a principal in Amarillo ISD. His passion was supporting teachers and doing what was best for students. Whether playing tether ball at recess or walking the halls, Tim connected deeply with his school communities.

Tim’s faith guided his life. He was an active member of the Church of Christ, serving as an elder, teacher, and on occasion even preaching. He was passionate about mission work/ trips and found joy in serving others, embodying Christ’s love in every action.

Tim is survived by his wife, Lisa; son Michael and grandson Matthew of Austin; daughter Whitney and husband Chad of Granbury; daughter Abby, husband Zack, and granddaughter Raylee of Lubbock; siblings Alice Pierce and husband Bobby, Jim White, sister-in-law Saundie Wade and husband Gordon; and numerous extended family members, all of whom loved him and look forward to the day they will see him again!
