Tommy Dell Goodpasture

August 15, 1939 — February 16, 2026

Tommy Dell Goodpasture passed peacefully from this life on February 18, 2026, at the age of 86. Born in Brownfield, Texas, on August 15, 1939, to Dolphus Dell Goodpasture and Delphia Wanda Goodpasture, Tommy was raised with strong values of faith, discipline, and service that guided him throughout his life.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 23, 2026 at The Church of Christ at the Colonies. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

On May 21, 1960, he married the love of his life, Gwen Daniel. Their nearly 66 years of marriage were marked by devotion, partnership, and steady love. Together they raised two children, Eddie Goodpasture (Rhonda) and Shanie Mayeux (Mike), building a home centered on faith and family. Nothing meant more to Tommy than his family. He was a steady presence, a quiet encourager, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather.

In 1956, he joined the United States Navy, serving overseas in Japan and Korea. During his service, he received electrical training that became the foundation of his career. After an honorable discharge, he began working for Southwestern Public Service, where he faithfully served for 37 years before retiring.

Tommy was a devoted Christian throughout his life. He led singing in worship for many years, taught classes, supported mission efforts, and encouraged countless people through his example. He was a member of the Church of Christ at the Colonies. He also performed in plays to help raise funds for Amarillo Christian School, using his talents to serve his community.

He made a lasting impact on the Amarillo tennis community. Tommy organized and coordinated tennis tournaments to support local causes, including High Plains Children’s Home. He taught tennis camps, supported wheelchair tennis programs, and helped the Amarillo Tennis Center earn national recognition through the USTA Small Tennis Center of the Year award. Even after retirement, he continued mentoring young players and forming lifelong friendships.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolphus and Delphia Goodpasture; his sister, Jackie Kondrack; his brother-in-law, J.D. Daniel; Leonard Fallin; and his grandson, Terry Dell Goodpasture.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gwen Goodpasture; his children, Eddie Goodpasture (Rhonda) and Shanie Mayeux (Mike); his brother, Don Goodpasture (Jane); his sister, Kathy Fallin; his grandchildren, Billy Goodpasture (Paula), Dana Goodpasture, Tate Mayeux, and Skylar Reese (Jordan); his great-grandchildren, Eastin (Camdyn), Cutter (Camry), Paige, Olivia, Oliver, Sammy, Dawn, and Rogan; his great-great-grandchildren, Trayce, Asa, and Kye; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tommy’s life was defined by steady faith, generous service, and deep love for his family. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the example he set.
