Travis Gillman Abernathy, 43, of Amarillo, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025, in El Paso, Texas.

Travis was born on August 22, 1981, in Long Beach, California to Karen and Steven Abernathy. He was known by most as Harbor, even called Harbor Bay by friends, though not known by many, he was born at Harbor Bay Memorial. He was an exceptional artist in multiple media and styles, including pencil portraits, landscapes, surreal, wire sculptures, paintings as well as many others, where he was able to build and create anything he set his mind to. He lifted everyone’s spirit with his witty nature and sense of humor. He came from three generations of commercial fishermen and always preferred being in the water a posed to anywhere else. He was happiest when working in the TX oil fields and diving as a certified professional diver. He took pride in taking care of his mom and looking after her wellbeing on a daily basis. Harbor was very kind to the elderly and “generous to a fault” with anyone in need. He will be dearly missed, and his love and memory will be cherished by all.

He was preceded in death by: Billy and Beverly Gillman (Maternal Grandparents), Jane and Tom Moser (Maternal Grandparents), Bruce and Phyllis Abernathy (Paternal Grandparents), Gary Fisher (Maternal Uncle) and Younger Brother Louis Berg.

Travis is survived by his mother, Karen Gillman and his father, Steve Abernathy; his son, London Abernathy; his sister, Tasha and husband Anthony Whisenant; his aunts and uncles, Rosalind and Dale Price, Blake and Tonya Moore, David Abernathy, Denice Cox, Judy Lindholm, Gayle Gilmore and Cyndi Fisher; his cousins, Ashley and Zack Lee, Liz Johnson, Rashell White, Jacob Stroope and Eric Lindholm; his niece and nephews, Makayla and Abel Franco, Brandon Caywood and William Whisenant; one great-niece; two great-nephews; and several other beloved family members.
