Vernon David Middleton

Vernon David Middleton, 89, of Amarillo, TX passed away December 21, 2025.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1200 S. Coulter. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Vernon was born August 24, 1936 in Hamlin, TX to Vernon Cecil Middleton and Faye Stahl Middleton. He moved to Amarillo, TX in 1943 and attended Highland Park Elementary School, Horace Mann Jr. High School, and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1954. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corp obtaining the rank of Sergeant.

Vernon married Barbara Westerlind on February 15, 1958 in Worcester, MA. Vernon then attended WTSC earning a BA in Business Administration in 1963.

Vernon and Barbara were members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where they were part of the perpetual adoration. Vernon spent his career working for the City of Amarillo and Potter Randall Appraisal District as a Property Appraiser. He enjoyed spending many hours with his grandchildren watching them participate in sports and other activities. He always enjoyed them coming to visit at his home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon C. Middleton and Faye Middleton; and brother-in-law, Ron Burleson.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Barbara Middleton; sister, Jan Burleson; children, Lisa Loan of Amarillo, TX, Mike Middleton of Dallas, TX, and Tony Middleton and fiancée Felicity Brooks of Cedar Park, TX; grandchildren, Adi Koelzer and husband Brandon, Brock Loan, Kyle Middleton, Arlo Middleton, and Max Middleton; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Kinder Hearts Hospice and nurse Janet for their support during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Kinder Hearts Hospice, 1902 Medi Park Dr. STE 1030, Amarillo, TX 79106.
