Veronica “Bonnie” Eloise Bichsel, 68, of Claude, TX, passed away on December 31, 2025.
Funeral services will be held for Bonnie on Monday, January 5th, 2026, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Bonnie was born Veronica Eloise Ward in Amarillo, TX, on September 20th, 1957, to Carl Leslie Ward Sr and Katherine Lucille Robinson Ward. Bonnie was one of 8 children and was raised in Arlington, TX. She called many places home during her childhood, but eventually found her way back to Amarillo, TX, and there she met the love of her life. On December 6th, 1974, in a Tucumcari Justice of the Peace Office, she married Larry Dean Bichsel of Washburn, TX. Larry and Bonnie moved to the country and farmed the land. As well as growing crops, they began to grow their family. While on the farm, Bonnie gave birth to Nickey Kay (50), Ada Dawn (48), and Larry Dean “Hoss”(44). In 1994, Larry and Bonnie’s story took them away from the farm and from 1995 to 2020, Larry and Bonnie called several cities home: Clovis, NM, Albuquerque, NM, Lubbock, TX, each holding a special place and filled with new friends and neighbors. Everywhere they lived, Bonnie endeared herself to her neighbors and community… but all roads lead back to HOME. In 2020, Larry retired, and he and Bonnie returned to Washburn, TX. Until her passing, she enjoyed being home with Larry to do as they wanted and enjoyed the remaining time they had together. In the late evening on December 30th, Bonnie took her last labored breath and cast off her earthly chains and danced straight into paradise. Bonnie passed peacefully in her home, watched over as she had been from the first moment they met by her loving husband. Bonnie passed, knowing her legacy of love and kindness are woven into our family's fiber.
Bonnie will be remembered for her warm heart and her warm home. For her laugh and her ability to put up with the shenanigans that are constant in the Bichsel Family. She will be missed for her kindness and want to always be a provider and caregiver to any and all. She will be missed as a loving partner and wife of 51 years. She was so proud to be Larry's wife! She loved her children and granddaughter with Mama Bear ferocity. Bonnie believed in the power of prayer, the abundance of grace, and the necessity of forgiveness.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Larry Dean Bichsel, of Washburn, TX; her three children, Nickey Kay Bichsel, of Washburn, TX, Ada Dawn Bichsel, of Lubbock, TX, and Larry Dean Hoss Bichsel II, of McAlester, OK; and her granddaughter, Danielle Vahala-Nevada Bichsel-Lewis, of Lubbock, TX; and her 6 siblings, Carlene Davis, Debbie Smith, Reba Jaramillo, Gary Ward, Weldon Ward, and Michael Ward. Bonnie is also survived by an army of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
