Veronica "Ronnie" Rosas was an artist, teacher, sister, aunt, caretaker, and friend. There are blank pages, spaces and walls everywhere where you can create, dream and escape from the harshness and rigidity of the world. Ronnie Rosas found her expression of joy, love and freedom in the artist's world of color, shapes, forms and figures. She was always caught doodling and drawing at any given moment. She was "best" when she was painting. She shared her art generously donating her art pieces to help in fundraising efforts for various non-profit functions. She painted for schools and agencies incorporating her talents to promote the themes she loved most: children, community and family.
Veronica Guadalupe Rosas was born April 29, 1959 to Guadalupe and Antonia Rosas in Amarillo, Texas. She was the third born child of six children. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Virginia and her brother, John. Surviving family members are her brothers, David (wife, Michelle) and Michael, along with her sister, Victoria Martinez. Ronnie had many nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly and some of them even referred to her as "Grandma".
Ronnie graduated from Caprock High School. She completed her Associates at Amarillo College in the study of Art. Ronnie is a graduate of West Texas A&M University obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work. Miss Rosas worked as a Kindergarten Teacher at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School for 14 years. She worked as the Children's Programs Director at Wesley Community Center for over 12 years and worked at Opportunity School for some 10 cumulative years as a Teacher.
Her legacy is the passion she had for teaching little children. Miss Rosas taught generations of children and to this day, the children now grown with families of their own, approach her to 'Thank' her and remind her how she helped them learn to love themselves and school. She was compassionate, kindhearted and thoughtful in reaching the child in the classroom who struggled most with being small and vulnerable. Her classes were filled with creative activities, and she earned the title of "Best Storyteller" because she made story books come alive. Those who worked alongside her were fortunate to experience how she demonstrated the empathy and joy she felt being in relationship with each and every child. She was a gifted and extraordinary role model for Teachers who worked with her.
Ronnie is best known for her "big heart". She loved deeply and had an amazing memory for details covering years of full-on-living. Her wit was quick and she was a master for making those whom she regarded as "friend" fall over with deep belly laughs. She was truly a beloved friend.
Ronnie Rosas will be sorely missed. She brought a rich soulful connection to most everyone she met. In her presence, one could feel how God divinely placed her in one's path. Her family and friends will forever remain grateful for her devoted love and friendship. Miss Ronnie received her wings on Thanksgiving Day, a perfect day to give thanks for her life and celebrate her first glorious day in heaven.
The family would like to extend a special message of gratitude to Ronnie's caretakers at Hospice and Home Health: Tisha, Destiny, Joe, Christian, and Jerry Rodriquez. "Thank you each for the tender and wonderful care you provided Ronnie11• She was blessed by your dedicated service to her well-being. The family would also like to thank Marie Pallares and Lydia 'Lilly' Maxwell for the countless hours you each cared for Ronnie. We give thanks to Our Lord for your love and generosity.
