As of June 28, 2025, we have lost a “good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25: 21-22), Virginia Ruth Sabow.
After graduating from business school, Virginia moved to Washington D.C., taking a position as a stenographer at the Pentagon. She was proud of her hard work. Later, she always worked a polling place and as an election judge.
After meeting John Sabow, a member of the Army Air Core, they were married in D.C. then transferred to Boulder, CO where she raised her two children, John M.A. Sabow and Carol L. Knox. They were then transferred to Amarillo, TX.
Once in Amarillo, the family attended the Presbyterian Church. She can be described as a faithful woman of Christ. Virginia had a great sense of humor and wisdom that her family saw with sayings like,
“ I don’t smoke, and I don’t chew and I don’t go with guys that do.”
“Lips that touch wine shall never touch mine.”
Finally, “I did the best I could.”
And she did...
Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 7, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Interment will be private in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Carol Knox of Amarillo, TX; and son, John Sabow of Bakersfield, CA.
