Walter "Bill" Parrie

Walter “Bill” Parrie Sr., 80, of Amarillo, TX passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on May 19, 2026.

The rosary will be said at 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Taylor Elzner as celebrant. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Walter was born in Zwolle, LA on September 14, 1945, to Walter and Fannie Parrie. He was one of 8 children.

After 2 years of serving in the United States Army, Walter moved to Amarillo, TX and married the love of his life, Mary, on January 14, 1967. They had two sons, Walter Parrie Jr. and Jeramy Parrie.

Walter knew no stranger. He made a point to get to know everyone he met. He has a passion for gardening, good food, his grandchildren, and the New Orleans Saints.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Fannie Parrie; and siblings, Jody Parrie, Mary Cook, and Daniel Parrie.

Walter is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Walter “Walley” Parrie Jr. and wife Wanda, Jeramy Parrie and wife Monica; grandchildren, Savannah Parrie, Isaiah Parrie and wife Alexis, Alisa Parrie, Xavier Parrie, Zachary Parrie, and Khloe Parrie; great-grandchildren, AJ Stone, Brayzlee Stone, Finn Parrie, Seth Villarreal, Jade Villarreal, and Noah Villarreal; siblings, Dots Meshell, Tay McTire, Dixie Dozier, and Maggie Meshell; niece, Marge Pereida; nephew, Jesse Pereida; as well as many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
